About Us

Two small-town kids from the Midwest now loving life in southwest Florida

We met in 2005 camping in central Wisconsin with our families, and married in 2007 along the Rock River. Our real adventures together began in late 2009, when we took a leap of faith, sold our house during the market crash, and moved to North Carolina for an opportunity. That was the stepping stone for many more moves, friendships, and memories along the way.

Our first neighborhood was something everyone should experience.

We’ve been lucky enough to experience it more than once.

We were fortunate to purchase a cookie-cutter, new construction home in 2007 and were excited to put our stamp on it. We were so grateful, we were watching every penny, and were willing to put in the work. That meant we spent a lot of time at home, and really got to know our neighbors.

We loved that neighborhood. It was how neighborhoods should be. You could walk down the street with a cooler and get lost in conversation. We grilled together, we had bonfires together, their kids all played together. We helped each other. We watched out for each other.

Gingerbread house building party at Christmas

That neighborhood began to expand our horizons.

We tried our first Black Russian after dinner at a neighbor’s, their nightly ritual. I went nuts at Christmas, baking no less than 10 different kinds of cookies that my mom never wanted to make (I quickly understood why). We learned about family traditions outside of our own, and thought about what kinds of traditions we wanted to start in our family.

Through the years we’ve pushed ourselves to try things outside of our comfort zone and learn new skills. We love nothing more than entertaining friends and and creating experiences. Pull up a seat and stay awhile.
